Homelessness

The population of SkidRow is too many to count, and the transition to get out of the streets isn’t easy either. The Weingart Center has been a helping hand to our unhoused community battling any obstacle from debt to addiction. Offering all the tools people need to start anew, the Weingart Center has been a symbol of hope to L.A.’s homeless crisis.

Changing the way our children think of poverty starts at home. The education taught by Dads For Giving involves getting parents involved in teaching their sons and daughters how they can give back to neighboring communities who need all sorts of donations. It’s a way to spend family time while teaching the values of being of service to those in need.

A big part of the homeless population in Portland, OR is a teenager or younger, and schools lack funds/volunteers. Kids First Project believes that by giving these disadvantaged youths, in and outside of shelters, a wealth of after-school programming they can empower them to reach their full potential.

Housing is a human right. CCH is a leading non-profit in Illinois that is advocating for affordable housing, job opportunities, and public services for people who are at-risk or homeless. Working to change public policy and increase available resources to those affected by homelessness has been a core goal of this organization. They are committed to creating change in the lives of the children, students and families that make up the communities that they serve.

Rose Haven is an all inclusive day-shelter for women, children and gender non-conforming people. They provide every basic need in the book from food to therapy and actually encourage lasting changes. They also have a thriving online community which is a huge asset to their guests and the community.
